Donate & Sponsor

Kids Here and There is an organization founded with the purpose of increasing volunteerism in our local community in order to help local kids and their families while also benefitting kids and their families around the world. The two things Kids Here and There needs to function are young, committed volunteers and donors to sponsor the hours these volunteers complete. For every hour volunteered, $10 of your donation will be released directly to fund a nurse in Zambia.

The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, Zambia, is the largest hospital in Zambia and the main referral hospital for the whole country. At UTH, a nurse is normally paid between $5,000 and $7,000 a year, and this usually means taking care of between 50 and 100 patients by themselves each day. Many areas of the hospital are in desperate need for more staff, and this need is felt most strong in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In the NICU, the mortality rate is 40%, rate of infection is 33%, and the nurse to baby ratio is 1 to 45. Each nurse we sponsor, will help all of these statistics dramatically.
